SAINT PATRICK. March 17th

Hoy , día 19 de marzo,  Emma nuestra auxiliar nos ha explicado cosas interesantes sobre San Patricio, que es el patrón de Irlanda. Ella es irlandesa y pensaba contárnoslo el lunes pero no pudo venir, por eso ha sido hoy cuando lo ha hecho.
Estas son algunas  curiosidades:
  • El Día de San Patricio, dia 17 de Marzo, es una celebración cultural y religiosa que conmemora  la llegada del cristianismo a Irlanda, así como la cultura  de este país. Parece ser que hay más irlandeses fuera que dentro de Irlanda
  • Muchas leyendas se le atribuyen al santo, entre ellas el uso del shamrock, o trébol, como un símbolo de la Divina Trinidad .
  • También se cuenta que sacó a las serpientes del país, sin embargo, estos reptiles no estaban en la isla, por lo que se ha interpretado como la salida de los no cristianos para hacer de Irlanda un país católico.
  • Es costumbre usar el verde en el Día de San Patricio en la ropa y es frecuente pellizcar a aquel que no lo lleva.
  • Tambíen nos ha hablado de los leprechauns que son como  duendes que habitan en Irlanda.
  • Los leprechauns  adoptan la forma de hombres viejos que disfrutan realizando travesuras. Su oficio es el de fabricar o arreglar zapatos. Se dice que son muy ricos y que guardan calderos llenos de tesoros. Según la leyenda, si alguien logra fijar la mirada sobre un leprechaun, éste no puede escapar.
